Melanocortin-1 Receptor (MC1R)

The melanocortin-1 receptor (MC1R) is expressed on melanocytes. In research models, its activation couples to cAMP signaling associated with the production of eumelanin, the pigment studied in the context of UV absorption.

MC1R is the primary receptor of interest for linear α-MSH analogs studied in melanogenesis and photoprotection research. Renova makes no cosmetic or therapeutic claims; this describes receptor pharmacology only.
