Research Use Only (RUO)

Research Use Only (RUO) means a material is intended solely for in-vitro laboratory and scientific research. RUO products are not drugs, foods, cosmetics, or supplements; they are not for human or animal consumption; and they are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition.

RUO status also shapes how a compliant vendor communicates: no medical, therapeutic, or dosing claims, and buyers are expected to be qualified researchers handling material under good laboratory practice.
