Bacteriostatic Water

Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing a small amount of a preservative (commonly 0.9% benzyl alcohol) that inhibits bacterial growth. The preservative allows a reconstituted vial to be used over a longer window than plain sterile water.

Once a peptide is reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, the solution is generally kept refrigerated and protected from light. This is general handling information for laboratory research only.
