NNMT

Also: Nicotinamide N-Methyltransferase

Nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT) is an enzyme that methylates nicotinamide using the methyl donor SAM. Because nicotinamide feeds the NAD⁺ salvage pathway, NNMT activity sits at an intersection of energy metabolism and cellular methylation.

Elevated NNMT in adipose tissue has been associated with metabolic dysfunction in the literature, which is why small-molecule NNMT inhibitors are studied as tools in preclinical metabolic research. This is enzyme biology for laboratory reference only.
