Secretagogue

A secretagogue is a molecule that causes another substance to be secreted. In growth-hormone-axis research, a growth-hormone secretagogue acts on the ghrelin receptor to encourage the pituitary’s own release of growth hormone.

Secretagogues are often studied together with GHRH analogs, since the two act through complementary pathways.
