Epitalon: Telomeres, the Pineal Gland & Longevity — Research Overview

Erik Rodriguez, Founder & Research Lead1 min read

Epitalon (often spelled Epithalon) is a short bioregulator peptide studied in longevity research for its links to telomeres and the pineal gland. This overview is for laboratory and educational reference only.

What is Epitalon?

Epitalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide (sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly / AEDG) modeled on epithalamin, a peptide complex associated with the pineal gland. It belongs to the family of short "bioregulator" peptides studied in the longevity literature.1

Mechanism and research

Telomeres and telomerase

The most discussed research angle is telomere biology: in cell and preclinical models, Epitalon has been studied for influencing telomerase activity and telomere maintenance. Much of the human-relevant evidence is preliminary, which we flag plainly.

Pineal and circadian signaling

Because of its pineal origin, Epitalon is also studied for melatonin rhythm and circadian regulation.

Where it fits in longevity research

Epitalon is frequently studied alongside other cellular-maintenance compounds — NAD+, mitochondrial peptides like MOTS-C and SS-31, and the regenerative tripeptide GHK-Cu.

Handling and reconstitution

Supplied as a lyophilized powder; reconstitute with bacteriostatic water for laboratory use and refrigerate (2–8°C). See Understanding Peptide Reconstitution and How to Store Research Peptides.

Verified purity

Renova material is third-party tested with a per-batch COA. See How to Read a Peptide COA and confirm any lot with Verify Your Vial.

Questions

Frequently Asked

What is Epitalon?

Epitalon (also spelled Epithalon) is a synthetic tetrapeptide with the amino-acid sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly (AEDG), modeled on epithalamin, a peptide associated with the pineal gland. It is studied in longevity and bioregulation research.

What does the telomerase research show?

In cell and preclinical models, Epitalon has been studied for influencing telomerase activity and telomere length. This is an active research area, and much of the human-relevant evidence remains preliminary.

What is the pineal/melatonin connection?

Because it is modeled on a pineal peptide, Epitalon is studied for effects on circadian signaling and melatonin rhythm, alongside its telomere-related research.

How is Epitalon supplied?

As a lyophilized powder reconstituted with bacteriostatic water for laboratory use and refrigerated (2–8°C) afterward. Renova material ships with a per-batch third-party COA.
